Virgil Clark Peacock, age 63, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at his home.

Virgil was born on November 17, 1952 at Van Nuys Maternity Hospital in Van Nuys, California to Robert & Agnes Peacock and was one of six children.

He grew up in Simi Valley, California and moved to Grants Pass, Oregon in 1972. For a period of time he lived near his aging parents in Lake Isabella, California and in 2008 returned to Oregon with his wife, Jan.

Virgil was a retired carpenter, a trade he shared with his father and brothers.

Virgil was an avid fisherman, mostly deep sea fishing and he also loved to hunt. He was nicknamed “Grizz” and was also known as “Bird” by his friends in Oregon.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Peacock of Grants Pass; six children – daughters, Alice Skiles and LeighAnna Peacock of Merlin, Oregon, Heather Ivy of Grants Pass, son, Michael Peacock of Medford and two stepdaughters, Shelly Federico of Peyton, Colorado and Brandi Clay of Phoenix, Arizona; three siblings, Bobby Joe Peacock and Evelyn Gatewood, both of Simi Valley, California and Lareda Peacock of Ft. Pierce, Florida.

Preceding him in death were two siblings, Diana Boatwright of Monticello Arkansas who died April 2010 and Robert Gerald Peacock of Simi Valley, California who died October 25, 1997.

A memorial service will be at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Edgewater Christian Fellowship.
