A celebration of her life will be at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, February 4, 2007 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors in Grants Pass, Oregon for Violet Mary Powell of Grants Pass and Eugene, who died January 26, 2007 at age 88 of age related causes at her son Glenn’s home in Eugene. A burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass.

Violet was born February 16, 1918 in Toledo, Ohio to Westley & Gertrude Kobrick and spent most of her life in Southern California and Southern Oregon. She was married twice, her husband of 50 years, Homer Powell died in 1997.

In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as a beautician, a telephone operator, a newspaper reporter and many years as an elementary school bus driver. She was a member of TOPS and maintained KOPS status for 37 years. She was also a member of Blue Star Mothers.

She loved to travel, dance and nurtured and loved countless number of children and pets. She leaves behind numerous crochet masterpieces.

Survivors include a sister and brother, Carol Ivan of California and George Brown of Arizona; three sons, one daughter and their spouses, Jim & Jenny Powell of Garden Grove, California, William & Vivian Powell of Williams, Oregon; Jane & Russ Powell-Eichner of Gold Hill, Oregon; and Glenn & Shari Powell of Eugene, Oregon. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Sherri Ann, Charlie, Heidi, Mischa, Shanti, Salina, Shalah, Nicki, Gust, Lucas, Eric, Violet, Jacob, and Emma; and 17 great-grandchildren, Forrest, Winter, Dabian, Joshuah, Faith, Joseph, Moriah, Jessie, Sable, Zephyra, Annique, Aeon, Azreal, Atom, Arcana, Curtis, and Marcus.
