Violet Krois

December 10, 1922 — May 7, 2011

In Tribute and Memory of Violet Krois

In years past she knew everyone’s name and your children too as she was involved in PTA, FFA, Brownies, the motorcycle club, bowling league, Josephine County Fair, and ran a farm as well. Cooking, baking, canning, fishing, milking cows, churning butter, gardening, raising chickens, volunteer work at the voting polls and with the Hospital Auxiliary for 14 years, and raising children were only part of her to do list. Vi could do it all…and she did.

A Portages father and a Russian mother married to a full -blooded German, Conrad Krois for almost 50 years; Vi was a strong stubborn woman indeed! Francis was her sister and Bill MacKenzie as Francis’s husband; Uncle Bill as we all called him was the family favorite.

The Krois family resided on Foothill Blvd where we all still consider it the “Krois Mountain”. The memories are too many to list. We each have our favorite story. One of the favorites is when Dennis picked her up and threw her in the cow trauf, which was an old bathtub full of slime and yuck. She was proud of her 4 children, Kenneth Krois, Dennis Krois, Connie Hagar, and Sandy Saunders, her 10 grandchildren, Michelle, Bobby, Willy, Angie, Shelly, Lori, Lisa, Tommy, Jennifer, and Stephanie, and 16 great grandchildren. Children, animals and flowers brought her joy. Roses were her favorite and digging in the dirt is where she found contentment.

Those of you who knew her all will agree, she was a “feisty woman” and held true to her nature to the very end. Her final years were spent at Redwood Terrace, Room 117-it became her home and although she had no animals there with her the stuffed dog and pup outside her door in the basket waited for her return each time she left for her daily walks, her favorite pastime. Vi’s journey was difficult in the end. Born December 10, 1922 and ending on May 7, 2011 when she let go of this world, took Jesus’ hand and joined other loved ones waiting for her in heaven.

Her children gathered around her to say goodbye and toasted her the following day, Mother’s Day…for she was there with us in spirit and shall remain in our hearts forever.

You will be missed Violet…

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
