Viola Mae Ewen

Viola Mae Ewen, age 87, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Gotcher Cemetery with Pastor Joel Williams officiating.

A memorial service will begin at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Parkway Christian Center with Pastor Dennis Webber officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Remembrance may be made to Parkway Christian Center, 229 NE Beacon Drive, Grants Pass, Oregon 97526.

Viola was born January 2, 1922 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Harry & Dorothy Hansen. On March 3, 1945 in Mexico she married Alvin Ewen Jr, who preceded her in death on March 22, 2008. In 1966 they moved from California to Williams and a year later moved to Grants Pass.

She was a member of Parkway Christian Center since 1966 where she was active over the years in children’s ministries, was director of women’s ministries, and in charge of the pre-school program.

Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, hunting, camping, sewing, traveling to the Oregon coast, and shopping at Gottschalks and Bi-Mart.

Survivors include two daughters, Chris Sage and Kandace Bailey both of Grants Pass; a sister, Elaine Bade of Quitman, Texas; two brothers, Albert Hansen of Hugo and Jeppe Hansen of Soldotna, Alaska; 6 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Ewen; son, John Ewen; and two great-grandsons, Elliott Sage and Ezekiel Sage.
