Thu Thi Rousseau

Thu Thi Rousseau, 54, passed away on July 29, 2006 in her home in Grants Pass. Thu passed in the company of her family after a brave struggle with cancer that lasted 18 months.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a memorial service in Thu’s honor at Saint Anne Catholic Church in Grants Pass, Thursday, August 3rd. The Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Father Peter O’Brien will be officiating. All are welcome for a reception immediately following the service at Saint Anne Reception Hall. A private interment service will be held for family members at Hillcrest Memorial Park Thursday afternoon.

Thu was born July 10, 1952 in the northern town of Thai Binh, Vietnam. After relocating to the south, Thu met and married her husband, Warren Rousseau on June 30, 1973 in Saigon. Thu, Warren and their family relocated to the United States in 1974, moving about the country until finally settling in their home of Grants Pass in 1985, where they raised their family of 5 and opened a local business.

Thu most cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. She will always be fondly remembered by the delicious cuisine she loved to prepare, eat and share with others. Thu was a very gracious, jovial and thoughtful woman, who often gave her time to help and serve her family, friends and community. She volunteered her time working with the Cub Scouts, Brighton Academy and other organizations. Although Thu was most at ease in the kitchen she enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping with family and friends.

Thu is survived by her husband, Warren, and their five children, Maria Sparks, Teresa West, David, James, and Ian. Additional survivors include Thu’s five grandchildren, her mother, Vui Thi Trinh and her 8 siblings, Vinh The Bui, Tuyet Thi Bui, Quang Dinh Bui, Mai Thi Bui, Nga Thi Bui, Dinh Ngoc Bui, Ngoc Thi Bui, and Nghiep Dinh Bui.

Preceding her in death are her father, Hien Bui, 1991, and her infant sister, Son.
