Thompson "Byrd" Holleman

April 21, 1920 — February 2, 2012

Thompson “Byrd” Holleman, age 91, of Rogue River, died Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 13, 2012 at Newman United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Fss officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Byrd was born April 21, 1920 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Chester Hubbard Holleman & Regina Marie (Bird) Holleman. On June 6, 1963 in Hawaii he married Glenne Auguston. In August 1967 he moved from Fort Carson, Colorado to Grants Pass and in 1976 he moved to Rogue River.

Byrd was a Master Gardener and Master Food Preserver and was a member of Newman United Methodist Church and local computer clubs.

His hobbies included cooking, gardening, computer work, fishing, and camping.

He is survived by three sons, Alan Grogan of Astoria, Oregon, Forrest Holleman of San Francisco, California and Cape Town, South Africa, and Roger Holleman of Rogue River, Oregon; two daughters, Kathy Thomas of Cincinnati, Ohio and Lorna Julien of Arkansas City, Kansas; a sisters, Gretchen Gager of Houston, Texas; a brother, Chester Holleman Jr. of Springfield, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenne Holleman in 2006 and sister, Katherine Birkner of Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 2009.
