Thomas Ryan Evensizer

Former Wimer resident, Thomas Ryan Evensizer, age 57, of Salem, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Salem Hospital.

A viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 10, 2011 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 10, 2011 at Woodville Cemetery.

Tom was born January 8, 1954 in Grants Pass, Oregon. When he was four years old, his family moved to Portland where he could attend Tucker Max School for the Deaf. After attending this Oral School for the Deaf, as a ten year old, he attended a Kiwanis Camp for deaf children and desired to study sign language which he then continued to do. Later he was specially trained in welding and leather tooling for the George Lawrence Group making holsters, belts, and all kinds of leather goods. He lived in Portland for 46 years before moving to Gold Hill in 2006 and then to Salem in 2010 to be closer to his family.

Tom was a member of the Portland First Assembly of God Church deaf congregation.

His hobbies included hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Janet (Friend) Evensizer of Salem, Oregon; three sons, Thomas Ryan Evensizer Jr of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Gregory Scott Evensizer of Salem, Oregon and Roger Dean Evensizer of Portland, Oregon; his parents, Samual & Marilyn Evensizer of Rogue River, Oregon; a brother, Johnnie Evensizer of Grants Pass, Oregon; and 12 grandchildren.
