Theodore "Teddy" Roberts

September 17, 1926 — May 19, 2016

The gardens and bicycle roads of heaven just gained a new rider/caretaker with “Teddy Bear” Theodore Roberts! Ted passed away at the age of 89. Teddy passed peacefully at a foster care home in Grants Pass, Oregon. A big thanks to the staff at Home on The Rogue! All the loving care that was given by a varied amount of people there in his last days was appreciated by his family. Ted was loved! Lovejoy Hospice, Nurse Kate, monitored and kept Teddy comfortable in his last days.

Ted Roberts, originally Baldowski was born in Plains, Pennsylvania on September 17, 1926, to Joseph and Catherine Baldowski. They had two children. Ted’s sister Stelle, died in 1990 in New Jersey.

Ted and his wife Margaret lived in Elizabeth, New Jersey and raised a family of two boys, who he treated with respect and love. Ted is survived by his boys Greg and Gary. Teds loving wife died in 1982. “Teddy”, was a proud “Captain” with the Elizabeth Fire Department, dedicated to his work and crews of men until his retirement in 1976. Someday…perhaps, there will be a statue in remembrance of all his wonderful work in Elizabeth while with the fire department.

Teddy, always having lots of friends to talk and socialize with, stayed in the Elizabeth area after his wife’s passing. Ted lived with his sister before moving to Ashland, Oregon to join his family in 1995.

Ted was very happy and felt at home in Oregon with all the mountains and rural areas around. Ted lived in downtown Ashland at Tudor Square apartments. Getting to know and love many close and trusted friends, Ted would walk and ride his bike along areas enjoying the beauty of the area, sometimes going to the ocean which he loved.

Teds other love was volunteering at different care facilities and care homes. He was remembered fondly by Linda Vista Care. Ted deeply touched many lives with his simple yet selfless life; he was “Teddy Bear” and “Captain” to many people that knew and respected him. Ted was very fit and very spiritual; Teddy’s passion was at its finest when he was helping people, especially in these areas. Young and old, his travels took him from Tudor Square to his favorite places in Ashland; Sterling/Umpqua Bank and its’ great people, Wendy’s and The Little House of Bagels, and Ted loved The Dollar Store! He was remembered for his helping many people and giving assistance when needed anywhere at any time!

Ted loved his bicycle as much as anything in his later years, though the ocean came close. He would ride it (even with a back pack on) at the Adult Care Homes!! It was good for his soul! Teddy loved the outdoors, dancing, singing the old standard song. It was always important for Ted to remain in great condition, so he walked up to four miles a day (with his store bought knees) and danced as much as he could. Ted lived, he loved and he was loved. “Teddy Bear” is remembered by many in Ashland, Oregon. A True gentleman, loving father to the end; Great run Ted, hope you’re able to do all you want there in heaven, the whole family and many friends send their love and will miss your presence.
