Sylvia Eileen Stevens, age 76, of Grants Pass, died Monday, August 2, 2010 at her home.

A recitation of the rosary will be at 6:30 p.m., Monday, August 9, 2010 at Hooper & Weaver Mortuary, 459 Hollow Way, Nevada City, California.

A mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 235 Chapel Street, Grass Valley, California with interment following at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Nevada City Elks Lodge. A memorial mass is pending at St. Anne Catholic Church in Grants Pass. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of local arrangements.

Sylvia was born January 5, 1934 in Seattle, Washington to James & Mildred Maloney. In 1951 she moved from Seattle to California where she graduated from high school in Montebello in 1953. Following her graduation she married Charles T. Willey and they later divorced. For many years, she worked as an executive secretary and other clerical positions with 3M Company. On July 22, 1966 in Las Vegas, Nevada she married Larry Stevens. In 2001 they moved from Grass Valley to Grants Pass.

Sylvia was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church; Lady Elks; and the Over 55 Club. She volunteered with St. Vincent DePaul in the soup kitchen.

Her hobbies included cooking and traveling by RV to Mexico. She especially loved her dog, Sierra.

Survivors include a daughter, Katie Roberts of Grass Valley, California; a son, Tom Willey of Grants Pass, Oregon; three sisters, Ann Isberg of California, Mimi Goddard of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and Mary Gibson of Wenatchee, Washington; a brother, Jerry Maloney of Elma, Washington; two grandsons; and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Stevens on June 6, 2006 and a grandson, Luke Roberts in 2004.
