Susan Elizabeth Cofoed, age 75, of Selma, died October 9, 2019 at Oregon Health & Sciences University in Portland as a result of an automobile accident on May 2, 2019 in Cave Junction.
Susan was born April 29, 1944 in Portland, Maine to Stanley Chester Hersey & Dorothy Elizabeth Hill Hersey. On November 23, 1973 in Medford, Oregon she married Danny Lee Cofoed and they were sealed on October 7, 1988 in the Seattle Temple. She received her Associates degree from Rogue Community College and worked as an x-ray technician in Boston, Los Angeles, and Grants Pass for a total of eight years. She also worked as a certified nursing assistant at both Highland House and Royale Gardens nursing facilities. Most recently she worked for Fire Mountain Gemas as a sorter and measured out semi-precious gems.
Susan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Cave Junction Ward. Over the years she served as Primary President, counselor in the Young Women, Relief Society President, Family History Consultant, Family Research Indexing Missionary for the region, teacher, and Compassionate Service Leader.
Her hobbies included reading books especially romance novels and church history books.
Survivors include her husband Dan L. Cofoed of Selma; children Shannon Elizabeth Cofoed and Michael Aaron Cofoed both of Grants Pass; and Kristen Cofoed of California; brother Ralph Stanley Hersey of Barefoot Bay, Florida; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Cave Junction Ward Building.
Private interment will be at Laurel Cemetery, Cave Junction, Oregon.
