Stanley Robert Grove

Stanley Robert Grove, age 58 of Grants Pass, Oregon passed away Friday, August 5, 2011 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

Stan was born on February 22, 1953 in Salem, Oregon to Frank and Marylou Grove. He was the second of their three children. A most memorable event was when Stan, along with his two brothers, played varsity basketball at Myrtle Point High School with their father coaching. After graduating from MPHS Stan attended the University of Oregon in 1972 where he played basketball for one season. Stan later went into the United States Air Force as a specialist in technical training for medical laboratories in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is where he met his love, Gloria. On December 15, 1979 in Myrtle Point, Oregon Stan married Gloria. Later, they moved to Grants Pass where they made it their home. It was here where Stan and Gloria raised their two wonderful children Aaron and Melissa who he loved dearly.

Stan was as a self-employed logger and worked in real estate for over 30 years until he was diagnosed with cancer September of 2009. He fought hard with his beloved wife Gloria diligently by his side until the cancer took his life.

Stan was a kind, caring, easy-going man who loved his family and friends immensely. He enjoyed listening to his favorite music; playing the guitar; reading; traveling; trying out new cuisine; and above all being in the woods and spending time with family and friends. His hope was always to return to the woods where he enjoyed spending most of his time. Stan will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and came to love him.

In addition to his wife Gloria K. Grove of Grants Pass, Oregon; Stan is survived by his daughter, Melissa R. Grove of Portland, Oregon; a son, Aaron R. Grove of Los Angeles, California; his parents, Frank and Marylou Grove of Myrtle Point Oregon; and two brothers, Henry J. Grove of Myrtle Point, Oregon and Dan K. Grove of Salem, Oregon.

A memorial service will be held at Saint Anne’s Catholic Church on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a casual celebration of Stan’s life at Summer Joes Restaurant at 3:30 p.m.
