Solomon Rudolph Daughtry

Solomon Rudolph Daughtry, 85, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at his home.

A visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 7, 2006 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 8, 2006 at Eagle Point National Cemetery with Pastor Russ Millsaps officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

He was born November 26, 1920 in Beulaville, North Carolina. During World War II he served in the U.S. Marine Corps where he guarded the airfield on the Island of Tinian that the Enola Gay airplane left from carrying the atomic bomb. In 1973 he moved from California to Grants Pass.

His hobbies were gardening and fishing.

Survivors include a son, Michael Daughtry of Selma; two daughters, Sharon Quintana of Fremont, California; and Alice Reed of Pittsburg, California; two brothers, Henry Daughtry of Greensboro, North Carolina; and Jessie Ray Daughtry of Goldsboro, North Carolina; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
