Sharon Lee Coots

Sharon Billman Coots, age 68, of Cave Junction, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Three Rivers Community Hospital after a brief illness.

A celebration of Sharon’s life is planned for Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the Kerby Belt Building, in conjunction with the SCA Hogmanay (New Year) festival. A private interment is planned for the family and close friends in January. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Remembrances may be made to Sharon Coots Memorial Fund at any branch of Sterling Bank.

Sharon was born September 13, 1941 in Los Angeles, California. She worked with children with mental and physical disabilities for the Los Angeles school district for ten years. In 1980 she moved to Cave Junction and in May 1986 she married Steven Coots.

Sharon was a member of Takilma Bible Church, Cave Junction and was in the local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA).

Throughout her life she applied her creative energies to arts and crafts, sewing arts, painting, calligraphy, and manuscript illumination.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 24 years, Steven Coots of Cave Junction, Oregon; her mother, Doris Rosella Billman of Cave Junction, Oregon; two daughters, Joyea Wilhite and husband Dan of Eugene, Oregon and Bethany Coots of Grants Pass, Oregon; a grandson, Patrick of Cave Junction, Oregon; a granddaughter, Shaleen of Eugene, Oregon; and two brothers, Clyde Billman of Las Vegas, Nevada and Chester Billman of Port Hueneme, California.
