Sarah L. Dotts

July 2, 1932 — October 5, 2017

Sarah L. Dotts, age 85, of Portland, Oregon died October 5, 2017 at her home.

Sarah was born in 1932 in Grants Pass, Oregon to Clarence J. & Gladys (Sherman) Hopper. She grew up and attended schools in Grants Pass. She quit school one month short of graduating to marry the love of her life, Harold Dotts Jr. in 1950 at the Bethany House in Grants Pass. She had several jobs while her children were growing up, but the one she liked the most was taking care of her family. After spending her entire life in Grants Pass she moved to Portland in 2014.

Sarah helped with Job’s Daughters and 4-H when her daughters were active in them.

Sarah was a wonderful cook and canned and preserved everything from the plentiful family garden. She loved to read and talk with her friends and family, especially her sisters. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, reading, sewing, and buying material.

Sarah was a devoted caregiver to her husband and her daughter, Patty. Her family was the most important thing to her. She loved them well and will be missed terribly.

Survivors include a daughter, Julie Lorraine Bright and husband John of Olean, New York; a son, Daniel Jay Dotts and wife Jannette of Portland, Oregon; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Almen Dotts Jr; her daughter, Patricia Lynn Paulson; her parents; and 12 siblings, Glennice Kendal, Eva Brunner, Dollie Bastian, Ida Houck, Ethel Slusser, Muriell Brown, Hollis Hopper, Sherm Hopper, Don Hopper, Vern Hopper, Carl Hopper and Everit Hopper.

Remembrances may be made in memory of Sarah to a charity of choice.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Grants Pass Masonic Cemetery.
