Salvatrice Calafiore

December 16, 1928 — November 29, 2019

Salvatrice (Dorothy) Adorno Calafiore

For ninety years earth was blessed to have Dorothy helping to shape it and change it like only she could. On November 29, 2019 Dorothy went home to be with her Savior; her mother and father and her beloved and deeply missed daughters – Anna Day and Angelina Calafiore who God called home much sooner than we wanted.

Dorothy was born on a cold “December the 16th of 1928” to her young parents Frank and Angela Adorno in East Orange New Jersey. What an amazing older sister she would become as her parents brought each of the five babies - home that were her siblings.

We can only imagine the giggling and laughter as she has been reunited in Heaven with her baby sister Carmella.

Dorothy is survived by her four younger brothers – Paul, Frank, Tony and Joe.

Dorothy grew up into a “brave young lady” who climbed aboard a ship with her father in search of her future and to visit her father’s past in Sicily. While in Sicily she met the handsome and young Paul Calafiore who became her new husband in 1950.

Paul and Dorothy started their lives in New Jersey – later settling in California where they raised their two daughters and three sons – Joe who lives in Rocklin California with his wife Terri, Frank who lives in Grants Pass, Oregon with his Fiancé Susie and Aubrie Jean and Dorothy’s youngest son Paul and his wife Desa from Marysville, Washington.

Dorothy worked alongside her husband in his Mason business and she worked in the school as a lunch worker.

Dorothy did quite a bit of volunteer work in her local Parish “Saint Peter and Paul” in Rocklin California. She enjoyed cooking and serving dinners at the church as well as working along side her daughter Anna as they made Rosaries.

In May of 2016 Dorothy and her husband Paul moved to Grants Pass, Oregon to live with their son Frank. After what seems like a fairy tale of love and adventure of 69 years Dorothy is now survived by her beloved husband Paul.

In addition to her husband of 69 years and her beloved sons and daughters-in-law. She is survived by eight beautiful grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and two adorable Great- Great Grandchildren.

Following the Rosary at 12:05 and Mass at 12:30 pm at Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Rocklin California; Dorothy will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Citrus Heights on December 14, 2019. A Reception and Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church after the burial.

Donations can be made in Salvatrice (Dorothy) Calafiore’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
