Rynd Steele Miller Jr, age 82, of Grants Pass, died February 28, 2018 at his home with his family by his side.

Rynd was born February 2, 1936 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Rynd Steele Miller & Grace Gaul. He served in the United States Army. In 1979 he moved from Redding, California to Grants Pass. He was an appliance technician for Montgomery Ward for more than 40 years. He also helped build swimming pools and was a dance instructor for many years. On January 7, 1989 in Grants Pass he married Vickie Marie Trevett.

Rynd had a strong calling to serve others as shown by the philanthropic organizations to which he belonged and his helpful nature to friends and family.

He joined the Grants Pass Masonic Lodge in 1992 and in 2001 became Worshipful Master. He joined the York Rite body of Masonry and became Most Illustrious Grand Master of Cryptic Masons in Oregon after which he became Grand Commander of Knights Templar in Oregon.

He was a member of the Red Cross of Constantine and an honorary member of the De Molay Legion of Honor.

In 2005 he became a member of Hillah Shrine of Medford and in 2016 was elected Potentate. He was proud to work as a Shriner for the Children of the Shrine Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie of Grants Pass; daughter, Rynda and husband Chris; grandsons, Zackary and Benjamin all of Corvallis, Oregon; stepson, Hal Davis and wife, Deanna and stepgrandchildren, Luke and Mason all of Hollywood, California. In addition, stepson Chris Trevett and his wife Aimee of Portland, Oregon and stepson, Pat Trevett and his wife Jerilynn of Central Point, Oregon.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the Grants Pass Masonic Center. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
