Russell ( Rusty) Eugene Smith Jr., age 41, of Grants Pass, Oregon, died July 13, 2020 in Grants Pass.

Russell Eugene Smith Jr. was born on November 11, 1978 in Medford, Oregon to Russell Eugene Smith Sr. and Suzanne Denise Smith (Winget). Rusty was raised in Medford, Oregon, where he attended High School. He attended Southern Oregon University and studied criminal justice, literature, writing and psychology. He moved to Springfield, Missouri in 2008, where he studied Religion and Spirituality. He moved to Seattle, Washington in 2010. He attended University of Washington where he studied Playwriting and Screenwriting.

Rusty loved sports, movies, traveling and, reading. He especially loved the Indonesian culture. He had traveled to Bali and was impressed by their resilience and resourceful characteristics. He also traveled to Mexico and spoke Spanish.

Rusty worked in retail sales and was excellent with people. He also loved animals and was an advocate for conservation.

Survivors include Father, Russell Eugene Smith Sr. of Klamath Falls, Mother, Suzanne Smith, of Grants Pass; little sister, Sunni Smith, and older sisters Tiffini Hunter of Klamath, OR and Buffi Dugenski of Florida. Also, Nephew Sam Robert Thompson.
