Ruby Pearl Oliver Molinaro

May 18, 1912 — May 29, 2010

Ruby Pearl Oliver Molinaro, age 98, a long resident of Grants Pass, passed away on May 29, 2010 at a local foster care home.

Private interment was at Granite Hill Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements.

Pearl moved to Grants Pass from California where she ran the Spahn Movie Ranch. Her horses were in many western movies and ridden by stars such as the Cisco Kid and many others.

The Spahn ranch is where the Manson gang was originally caught. Manson and his group were at the Spahn ranch when Pearl noticed a lot of guns and knives in Manson's dune buggy. She called the sheriff who came and took Manson into custody. Fingerprints from that arrest and Pearls testimony led to the conviction of Manson and his gang. They were convicted of the Tate murders and are now serving a life sentence. The whole story is in the book 'Helter Skelter'.

Pearl appeared in several TV shows with her pony's including 'Circus Peanuts'. She furnished the pony that Bob Hope rode onto the stage at one of his shows. She often told of trying to help him on the pony.

Pearl had many talents. She rode and broke horses, appeared on my shows and parades, sang and composed songs and played several instruments. We all loved Ruby Pearl.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. She is survived by one brother.
