Royce Allen McCoy, age 54, of Grants Pass, peacefully died Sunday, September 5, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his family and friends.

Military Honors will be presented at 9:00 a.m., Friday, September 10, 2010 at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 10, 2010 at Rivers of Life Four Square Church. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Royce was born on October 22, 1955 in Portland, Oregon to Royce L. and Icel McCoy. He was raised in Portland. At the age of 17, he joined the United States Army and served his country for six years. He graduated from Franklin High School and attended Mt. Hood Community College where he received mechanical and architectural degrees. For 13 years he worked for the United States Army Corps of Engineers. As the Project Architect, he completed the John Day and Willow Creek dams. On September 8, 1987 in The Dalles he married Tami Lynn McElwrath. In 2000, he was forced to take a medical retirement. He lived in The Dalles for 17 years and in 2004 he moved to Grants Pass and bought his dream home. Royce was a faithful husband, loving father, caring grandfather, devoted uncle, best man, good friend and a man of God.

While living in The Dalles he volunteered with Habitat For Humanity and he was
a member of Rivers of Life Four Square Church in Grants Pass for the past three years.

Royce loved the outdoors and any spare time he had he was boating, fishing, hunting, camping and working in his yard. He also enjoyed woodworking and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Tami McCoy of Grants Pass; a daughter, Diane Galvez of Portland; two sons, Jason McCoy and Christopher McCoy, both of Grants Pass; father, Royce McCoy of Gresham; three brothers, Mark McCoy of San Diego, California, Randy McCoy and Wayne McCoy, both of Gresham and four grandchildren, Alyssa, Emilio, Selena and Pedro Galvez.
