(Roger Lee) "Roy" Pirnie

(Roger Lee) “Roy” Pirnie, age 75, of Rogue River, Oregon died Sunday, August 11, 2013 at a local hospital of complications from a massive heart attack.

A viewing will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 16, 2013 at Woodville Cemetery with Pastor Matt Curtis officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Roy was born the youngest of 11 children to George and Agness Pirnie on July 15, 1938 in Broken Bow, NE. In 1958 he married Dorothy Louise Matthews in Nampa, ID. They were blessed with two sons. Before retiring in 2003, Roy worked in the lumber industry in Nampa, ID., Prineville, OR. and Greenville, CA. After the family moved to Rogue River in 1976 Roy worked at Grants Pass Sash and Door and had his own LRP Molding business in Rogue River. Roy also served as police commissioner for four years in Rogue River. After Dorothy’s death, he married his high school sweetheart Alice Farr Vines.

Roy was a great gentle giant. He was loving, considerate, thoughtful, compassionate and a real country gentleman with a heart of gold. He was an avid fisherman, an intelligent mentor, a great father and grandfather. He loved his cats, you could always find one or all nine of them nearby whether he was in his shop, sitting watching TV and reading a book, or asleep in his bed.

He is survived by his wife Alice, siblings Esther (Loyd) Pracht and Naomi (Weldon) Bramer in NE., Beulah Case, Dorothy Mulder, and Delbert (Erma) Pirnie of Nampa, ID; sons, Allan Matthew Pirnie (Rene’) of Medford, OR., Lee Edgar Pirnie (Colleen) of Rio Rancho, NM.; Grandchildren, Matthew, D’Anna, Morgan and Ryan Pirnie; great-granddaughters Lilyin and Azalea Pirnie and great-grandson Damien (Lil’ Ricky) Kirk; stepsons, Phil Vines and Marti Ervin (Kim) of Nampa, ID and stepdaughter Bradetta Doyle Vines (Tammis) of Seattle, WA., numerous step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews who will miss him greatly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers, and his first wife, Dorothy.
