Rodney "Rod" Duval

March 1, 1921 — June 7, 2007

Rodney A. “Rod” DuVal, 86, of Central Point, died Thursday, June 7, 2007 at an adult foster home.

No services are planned. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

Rod was born March 1, 1921 in Rolfe, Iowa. In 1936 he moved from Redmond, Oregon to Grants Pass and was a 1939 graduate of Grants Pass High School. From 1942 to 1945 he served in the United States Navy and was a Seabee. On May 31, 1970 in Stateline, Nevada he married his wife Barbara. For 30 years he owned and operated Quonset Auto Sales in Grants Pass. In 1988 he and his wife left Grants Pass and traveled for two years. In 1990 they settled in Eugene for twelve years; in 2002 they moved to Beaverton; and in 2006 they moved to Central Point.

He was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where he served as a Vestry Usher. He was also a member of B.P.O.Elks #1584 and OIADA (Oregon Independent Auto Dealers Association) where he was Southern Oregon Chapter President and State Secretary.

He enjoyed traveling and loved to rebuild antique cars and trucks, football, and boxing.

In addition to his wife, Barbara DuVal of Central Point; survivors include his daughter, Karin Preuit of Madras; two step-daughters, Karin (Chitwood) Fischer of Hillsboro and Debra “Kim” (Chitwood) Benson of Medford; two sons, Douglas DuVal of Eugene and Roger DuVal of Salem; a step-son, Dennis Chitwood of Lakehead, California; a sister, Maydene Schwietert of Talent; a brother, Gaylord DuVal of Chico, California; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
