Robert Lewis Barclay, age 78, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.

Robert was born September 20, 1940 to Arthur and Mable Barclay in Myrtle Point, Oregon. He enlisted in the Navy on November 30, 1959 in Portland, Oregon and served four years aboard the U.S.S. Aludra (AF-55) out of Alameda, California.

He was a minister with the Assembly of God and ran a youth camp for nine years. In 1962 he met Kathleen and three months later they were married; they enjoyed 57 years together. In 1987 the family moved to Grants Pass from Sutherlin, Oregon and became new owners of the Powderhorn Café & Pies. Robert was a baker and especially enjoyed visits with his guests at the café. He retired in 2003.

Church was very important to Robert and he was a member of His Valley Church. Robert’s hobbies included reading and studying his Bible; his biggest hobbies were loving on his grandkids and great-grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen J. Barclay of Grants Pass; two daughters, Tina Marie Gotchall and Tonia Rae Gavin both of Grants Pass; two sisters, Michelle Ann and Pamela Jean of Michigan; one brother, Ron Carlson; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Robert is preceded in death by his daughter, Wronda Irene Wilson; his parents; two sisters, Charlotte Packard and Renee Christene; and brother, Arthur Barclay.

Remembrances will be on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 with a viewing and visitation from 10:00 am to 12 noon at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors; Military Honors will follow at 2:00 pm at Eagle Point National Cemetery; and a Celebration of Life will begin at 4:30 pm at the Powderhorn Café & Pies.
