Robert L. Pugh

October 10, 1933 — November 3, 2020

Robert was born on October 10, 1933 in Ironton, Ohio. He was the second child of Lewis and Celeste Pugh. He had an older sister, Geri. When he was just a baby, his family moved to Eastern Oregon. He grew up in John Day, graduating from Grant Union High School class of 1950. Robert was a longtime resident of Southern Oregon, having moved here in the 50’s.
While living in Grants Pass, he met and married, Betse Sparks of Glendale, OR. He enjoyed hunting and was the Oregon State Champion Bear Hunter for several years in the 70’s. He owned and operated several logging trucks during that time. He went on to work for Spalding and Son Mill, delivering lumber up and down I-5. Robert was a long time volunteer for Food & Friends Josephine County.
After Betse passed in 1998, Robert found love again with Sally Smith. She was a wonderful addition to his family. Robert and Sally had a great circle of friends and enjoyed spending time golfing, and at their house in Brookings.
Robert was preceded in death by His parents, his sister, Betse and Sally. He is survived by his daughter Ruth (Medford), Grandson Hunter (Medford) and Granddaughter Chloe White (Savannah, GA).
Robert’s request was to not have a service. Donations can be made to Food & Friends of Josephine County.
