Robert Dean Koerselman
November 2, 1931 – September 7, 2021

Robert Koerselman, 89, of Grants Pass, died at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Oregon.
Robert was born in Paullina, Iowa, to Gerrit H. & Jeannetta (VanDerSloot) Koerselman. He was the oldest of four children. He graduated high school from Paullina in 1949. After graduating high school, he completed one year of college studying accounting. In January 1952 Robert enlisted in the Army and served his country until November 1956.

On Feb. 21, 1954, he married Rogene Yvonne Coulter. They had one daughter and one son. On Sept. 11, 1959, he married Lois Marie McComb. They had four daughters.

Throughout Robert’s life he had a variety of professions. He was a meter reader for Northwest Natural Gas, an accountant for Reynolds Aluminum, a shop craftsman for Viking Industries, and a self-employed tax preparer.

Robert and Lois lived in Portland, Oregon until retiring in 1994 and moving to Mesa, Arizona. While living in Arizona they enjoyed taking trips across the border to Mexico and playing blackjack, Bingo, and the slots at local casinos. To escape the Arizona summer heat, they took annual vacations back to Oregon to visit family. They lived in Mesa until moving back to Oregon in June 2021, taking up residence in Grants Pass. Robert enjoyed displaying his eagle collectibles and steins from his extensive Anheuser-Busch collection. He also collected specialty coins.

Robert affectionately referred to himself as Grouch and S.O.B., Sweet Old Bob. Depending on the day, you never knew who you’d get! Either way, he was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and brothers, Kenneth and Richard.
Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois. He also leaves behind his children, Marlene (Scott) Myers of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Russell Christenson of Portland, Oregon; Teresa (Jeffery) Leibham of Mesa, Arizona; Leslie (Gene) Vial of Grants Pass, Oregon; Denise (Kenneth) Hancock of Grants Pass, Oregon; Dona (Scott) Reasor of Gresham, Oregon; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister Carol (David) Bohrer of Locust Grove, Virginia.
