Roar Larsen

Roar Larsen, age 67, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, February 21, 2010 at his home.

No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Roar was born November 24, 1942 in Oslo, Norway to Arne & Gunda Larsen. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. In the early 1960s he was a dancer with the Tom Hansen Dancers on the Red Skelton Show. He also had acting parts in television shows, Hogan’s Heroes and Run For Your Life. For 28 years he was an automobile salesman and general manager selling Chevrolet trucks with General Motors. In 2007 he moved from California to Grants Pass.

He was a member of the San Fernando Rangers, a search and rescue sheriff’s posse.

His hobbies included camping and fishing. For seven years he sang in a band and was known as the Norwegian Cowboy. He raised horses and enjoyed going on cattle drives on King Ranch near Lake Piru in California.

Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Larsen-Fulop of Greenville, New York and Tamara Larsen-Piland of San Diego, California; two sisters, Else Diesen of Eydehavn, Norway and Anna-Karin Bakkan of Honefoss, Norway; and a grandson, Grant Larsen-Piland; Ex-wife, Gloria Grant Larsen, best friend and caretaker.
