Rick Thiergartner

Rick Thiergartner, age 56, of Florence, Oregon died Sunday, March 8, 2015 in Florence.

Rick was born March 29, 1958 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. In the early 1970s he moved from Malibu, California to Grants Pass where he graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1976. On January 5, 1980 in Grants Pass he married Cara Cameron. For 27+ years he worked as a CNC Machinist including 17+ years with Siskiyou Design in Grants Pass. In 2004 he moved with his wife Cara to Florence then to Eugene in 2007 to purse his career as a machinist. In 2013 he returned to Florence and most recently worked at Fred Meyer.

Rick loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed salmon fishing on the Siuslaw River. His other passions over the years included remote control trucks, boats and helicopters and participating in car events with his 1967 Chevy Camaro. He also enjoyed the outdoors including camping, hunting and fishing.

He especially loved his four-legged kids, Doxies Ed (16) and Sam (15), and Max the cat.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Cara Thiergartner of Florence, Oregon; his parents, Heinz Thiergartner of Medford and Miranda Thiergartner of Rogue River; brother, Bernd Thiergartner and wife Irene; a niece, Jessica Thiergartner Newton and a nephew, Dustin Thiergartner all of Grants Pass; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and extended family in British Colum

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristin who passed away shortly after her birth in 1982.

No public services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
