Richard Earl Jones

October 19, 1930 — July 5, 2012

Former Glendale resident, Richard Earl Jones, age 81, of Medford, went home to be with our Lord Jesus, Thursday, July 5, 2012 at his home.

Private services and interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Remembrances may be made to the Gospel Rescue Mission, PO Box 190, Grants Pass, Oregon 97528.

Richard was born October 19, 1930 in Santa Ana, California to William & Martha Jones. In 1948 he graduated from Whittier High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. He was stationed in Korea where he was an instrument repairman on his ship. On June 26, 1954 in San Gabriel, California he married his wife Barbara. After his military service, he went to work for North American Aviation as an engineer and worked on the first Apollo space program. In 1965 he moved from California to Glendale, Oregon and started Dick’s TV and Repair Service. He also worked as a bus driver, bus mechanic, and maintenance supervisor for the Glendale School District. In August 2011 he moved from Glendale to Medford.

Richard was a member of the Southern Oregon Amateur Radio Club and was a ham radio operator.

He enjoyed fishing; camping; and was a master at fixing watches and everything else. He especially loved spending time with his grandsons.

In addition to his wife, Barbara of Medford, Oregon; he is survived by two daughters, Christine of Medford and Cynthia of Portland, Oregon; and three grandsons, James, Jeremy, and Steven.
