On Sunday Sept 30, 2018, Richard Christopher Stuart, originally from Medfield, MA, passed away at the age of 76, after a long battle with heart disease. He will be sorrowfully missed by his three children: Bonnie Bailey, Richard Christopher Stuart, Jr, and Stephanie Watson, grandchildren: Jamie Bailey, Stephen Bailey, Joshua Bailey, and Shaina Spiegel, and Amanda Joy Watson, great grandchildren: Mason Bailey, Alex Bailey, and Desire’ Danielson, sister: Robin Gotcher and her husband Wade, and her children Christopher and Kelly, Loretta Collins, and her children Bill, Kathy, Patricia, and Robert. David and his wife, Nora, and their children Michael, Marilu, Mark, and Michelle.
He attended Medfield High School, voted “Best Looking”, class of 1960. The rest of his knowledge came from the school of “hard knocks”. He married Marlene Troiano from Walpole MA. In 1962. They moved to Smithfield, RI and formed a successful clothing/textile company “Stuart Enterprises, Ltd”, then “Molly Girl” and “Great Southern Textiles”, without prior experience in the clothing-textile industry. It was important to Richard to do this as at this time, as small and petite sizes were nonexistent.
In 1973, he fulfilled his dream to move to sunny FL where he could enjoy boating and the outdoors. He lived in New Smyrna, Edgewater, and later retired in Tavares at the Holiday retirement community. There he enjoyed socializing and swimming in the pool with friends.
Richard was always well-known for his fun personality. He was very driven and inspired his children and grandchildren to follow their dreams. His tenacious spirit earned him the nickname, “The Bull”. He was loved by his friends and family and will sincerely be missed. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
Preceded in Death by: His parents George and Louise Stuart, his aunt Clara, who he loved dearly, and his faithful companion, “Duchess”.
Hobbies: Boating, Fishing, Nascar, Reading, Traveling.
