Richard was born July 7, 1926 in Alma, Michigan to Armour Whitney & Eva (Richardson) Bradt. He grew up and attended local schools in Alma. Richard joined the United States Air Force and served as a radio operator. He was stationed in Japan at the end of World War II. After his service in the Air Force, Richard attended Michigan State University receiving his CPA Bachelors degree. He then worked for the State of Michigan as a tax consultant. After some years, Richard moved to San Francisco and then to Oregon where he met Bertha Pope and they were married February 15, 1986. They have been happily married for 28 years. Richard worked as a tax consultant for many years until he retired.

Every Sunday Richard attended the First Baptist Church of Selma. He has been a member of the church for many years accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior.

Richard enjoyed all sports and loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate, especially in wrestling. One of Richard’s highlights was videoing his grandson’s (Travis Core) wrestling matches when Travis won the State Championship in high school. His family was his joy; you can tell by all the pictures that hang on his office wall. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife, survivors include five stepchildren, Gary & Janie Pope, Debra Larsen, Neoma Merrell all of Cave Junction, Ron & Julie Pope of Winston and Ray & Elizabeth Pope of Grants Pass; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
