Raymond P. Walther

Raymond P. Walther, 88, of Medford, died Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Wynwood of Rogue Valley.

Services are planned for the end of July in Nebraska. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

He was born the day after Armistice Day, November 12, 1918 in Scribner, Nebraska to Paul and Louise (Heins) Walther. He attended St. Peter’s Parochial School and Scribner High School. He moved to Glendale, California where he attended Aerial Technical Institute and Glendale Junior College. He worked for six years for North American Aircraft Company constructing Military Aircraft B25 and P51 airplanes. He also worked 30 years for Southern Pacific Railroad and retired in 1971. In 1987 he moved to Grants Pass.

Survivors include his two daughters, Donna Barcus of Medford; Karen Berg and her husband Larry of Olympia, Washington; his son, William Walther of Arroyo Grande, California; his brother, Don Walther; four sisters, Ann Wittmann; Paula Force; Wilma Echtenkamp; and Adena Kleinschmidt; five grandchildren, Ron and Ben Walther, Deanne (Burr) Fee, Darin Barcus, and Jeff Axup; two great-grandchildren, Tylr and Thalia Fee and nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Richard Barcus.
