Ray Douglas McDonald Jr. age 62, of Grants Pass, died Monday, May 19, 2008 at Providence Medford Medical Center.

A visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2008 in the Relief Society Room at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Savage Street.

A funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2008 in the chapel at the church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Oregon Military Funeral Honors. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Ray was born October 1, 1945 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Ray Douglas McDonald & Juanita (Wise) McDonald. With his family he moved from Hawaii to Klamath Falls, and at age 5 moved to Grants Pass. He attended Grants Pass High School class of 1963. At age 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served from 1962 to 1966. When he was 21 years old his father died and he worked in his father’s business for a short time. He then owned and operated his own trucking company, and then worked for Southwest Freight as a long haul truck driver. In 1992 he began working with A & M Transport in Glendale until 2001. On December 31, 1993 in Grants Pass he married Christine (Kirkbride) Miranda, and in November 1994 their marriage was sealed for time and all eternity in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Portland Temple.
From October 2001 until his medical retirement he was a driver for Wal-Mart.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Beacon Hill Ward.

Ray was an avid reader of non-fiction material, especially books about stock trading, flowers, stars and birds.

Survivors, include his wife, Christine McDonald of Grants Pass; four sons, Ray Douglas McDonald III of Maryland, David Wade McDonald and Kelly Robert McDonald both of Medford, and Shaun Michael McDonald of Portland; a step-son, Jonathan Morla of Grants Pass; his mother, Juanita Hall of Grants Pass; two sisters, Pearl Ann Riordan and Nalani Burton both of Grants Pass; three brothers, Gary McDonald of Eagle Point, David McDonald and Mark McDonald both of Grants Pass and two grandchildren.
