Ralph W. Huber, age 91, of Grants Pass, died Monday, January 21, 2008 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

Private graveside services will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery with Father Peter O’Brien officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Remembrances may be made to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, 1121 SW Salmon Suite 201, Portland, Oregon 97205.

Ralph was born July 11, 1916 in Swissvale, Pennsylvania to Werner and Pauline Huber. In 1935 he moved from San Francisco to Cave Junction. During World War II he served in the United States Army infantry in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He made six combat landings and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Presidential Unit Citation. In 1949 in Grants Pass he married Joan Rauber. In 1957 he moved from Cave Junction to Grants Pass where he worked for Bate Plywood for many years. The last five years of his working years, he was employed by Evergreen Federal.

Ralph was an Eagle Scout and for many years volunteered as a Scoutmaster. He was also a member of the Nordic Ski Club for many years.

He especially enjoyed outdoor sports including water-skiing, cross-country skiing, rafting, and fishing.

In addition to his wife, Joan Huber of Grants Pass; he is survived by a daughter, Polli Kucharik of Grants Pass; a grandson, Nicholas Kucharik of Lacey, Washington and a granddaughter, Susanna Kucharik of Norfolk, Virginia who is currently serving active duty in the United States Navy.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanne Marie Huber.
