Ralph E. Johnson, age 81, of Grants Pass died Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to service time, Friday, October 5, 2007 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Janelle Aldrich-Dale officiating. Private interment will be a Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

He was born Ralph Ernest Johnson, December 24, 1925 in Woodworth, North Dakota to Erick and Millie (Norby) Johnson. He was also raised in North Dakota. On November 9, 1947 in Jamestown, North Dakota he married the former Lorraine Mae Reich. From a young age he worked as a butcher to support his family. While living in Newark, California he worked at Lone Star in Brisbane, California. He moved from Newark, California to Grants Pass where he worked as a school bus driver for Laidlaw, and at Crater Sand and Gravel as a heavy equipment operator. In 1997, he retired from his business, R & L’s Jack Repair.

His hobbies included fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his daughter, Gail Crowell of Manteca, California; son, Dale Johnson of Grants Pass; daughter, Kimberly Kilmer of Grants Pass; sisters, Irene Moni of Fremont, California and Grace Felton of San Jose, California; brother, Erick Johnson of Chandler, Arizona and Andy Johnson of Jamestown, North Dakota; grandchildren, Spencer Rich, Sandi Rieman, Matt Rieman and Holly Johnson; great-grandchildren, Matt Rieman, Jr. and Tristen Rieman.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine Mae Johnson.
