Phyllis Hobson

Phyllis Eileen Hobson, age 89, of Grants Pass, died July 7, 2020 at an adult foster home.

Phyllis was born March 21, 1931 in Loretto, Nebraska to Henry & Olive Woodworth. She moved to Grants Pass 64 years ago. In June 1975 she married George Hobson who preceded her in death in 1992. Over the years she worked in several occupations including dispatch for Grants Pass Rural Fire Department; Regal Gas Station; and Sandy’s Nursery.

Most of her adult life she bowled on various leagues. She was a founding member of the Wild Ones square dance group and loved going to the casino to play the slots. She also liked crocheting, pogo games, country music, and watching NASCAR.

Survivors include six children Vern Dixon of Dayton, Oregon, Dee Lakey of Grants Pass, Ron Dixon of Fountain, Colorado, Rick Dixon of Ashland, Diane Patterson of La Pine, and Donna Drake of Grants Pass; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sister Margy Gangler; and brothers Paul Woodworth and Robert Woodworth.

A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m., July 10, 2020 at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens with Pastor Doug Pittman officiating.
