Peggy Lou Wiltermood

May 16, 1926 — July 15, 2013

Peggy Lou Wiltermood, age 87, of Grants Pass, died Monday, July 15, 2013 at an adult foster home.

A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 21, 2013 at First Christian Church with Pastor Wes Winn officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Peggy was born May 16, 1926 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Harry & Alice Haney the youngest of four children in the Haney household. In 1929 the family moved to Grants Pass. While attending Grants Pass High School, Peggy met her future husband, Loyd Wiltermood. Their courtship began and grew as a result of Loyd’s brother, Walter dating Peggy’s sister, Lillian. On July 22, 1945 Peggy & Loyd were joined in marriage at First Baptist Church in Grants Pass. Throughout Peggy’s 62 years of employment, many local businesses were enhanced by her skill and smile. Her career pathway led her to employment at Western Union, Ausland Construction, numerous dental offices, Richard Surroz Accounting and First Christian Church. For 25 years Peggy & Loyd owned Braden Motor Parts.

Peggy was a member of Daughters of the Nile; Zonta; the Emblem Club; and First Christian Church. She volunteered as a Sunday school teacher.

Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, and traveling.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 68 years, Loyd Wiltermood of Grants Pass, Oregon; a daughter, Karen Bramblett of Corvallis, Oregon; three sons, Craig Wiltermood and Dale Wiltermood both of Grants Pass, Oregon and Terry Wiltermood of Olympia, Washington; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice & Harry Haney; a brother, Burnice Haney; and two sisters, Daisy Skou and Lillian Wiltermood.
