Paul William Coots

Paul William Coots, age 90, of Grants Pass, died Friday, February 14, 2014 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Private interment will be held. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Paul was born October 7, 1923 in Bay, Arkansas to Oliver Fletcher & Fannie Ellen (Clark) Coots and was raised on a farm with his seven siblings. He served in the United States Army from February 1943 to December 1945 during World War II. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater with the 595th Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion as a radar crewman. Upon his return from the war, Paul went to work on the family farm. From there, he moved to California to work in the Benicia Shipyards. He had an aptitude for mechanics and began working on forklifts as a mechanic and then salesman. He opened his own business, Stockton Bin & Pallet in 1976, which he operated until retirement in 1995. He then relocated to Oklahoma where he thoroughly enjoyed the people and the slower pace of life. In 2007 he moved to Oregon to be near his family. In 2009 he moved to Grants Pass.

Paul was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Paul loved a good game of dominos. He loved watching old westerns. He especially enjoyed John Wayne and Chuck Norris films.

Survivors include his son, Paul W. Coots, Jr of Cave Junction, Oregon; a daughter, Norma J. Roley of Stockton, California; and a large family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Oliver Fletcher Coots and Fannie Ellen (Clark) Coots.
