Paul Silvanus Sorrels Sr.

June 3, 1917 — March 8, 2010

Paul Silvanus Sorrels Sr, age 92, of Grants Pass, died Monday, March 8, 2010 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A viewing will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A graveside service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Granite Hill Cemetery with Bishop Lynden Woolley officiating.

Paul was born in Ringling, Oklahoma on June 3, 1917 the 7th of 8 children. After completing the 8th grade he went to work to support his family. From 1941 to 1945 during World War II he served in the United States Army and was awarded two Purple Hearts. In 1947 he met and married Maude (Mickey) Williams. They lived in Tulare, California until 1952 when they moved to Grants Pass. Mickey passed away in 1978. In 1996 Paul married Connie (Sealy) Coltrane who survives. For 28 years he worked at Spalding & Son Mill.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Murphy Creek Ward.

His hobbies included square dancing, fishing, camping and gardening.

In addition to his wife, Connie Sorrels of Grants Pass, he is survived by three children, Paulette Day of Everett, Washington, and Vivian Ring and Paul Sorrels Jr both of Grants Pass; three step-children, Christine Wonsyld, Jack Coltrane and Charles Coltrane all of Grants Pass; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
