Paul Moya Lopez, age 72, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Spring Meadow Retirement Community.

No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Paul was born August 9, 1939 in Kauai, Hawaii to John & Dolores Lopez. With his family, he moved from Hawaii to Sunnyvale, California in 1945. For many years he worked for the San Jose Mercury News as a newspaper route manager. After his retirement, he was a caregiver for his mother. He also worked for the Santa Clara County Coroner’s office as well as many funeral homes in the San Jose area. In October 2011 he moved from Jamestown, California to Grants Pass.

Paul was known as the unofficial mayor of Sunnyvale as he took care of many homes and landscaping for the elderly.

He especially enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include three children, Tim Lopez, Lisa Krigelman, and Mike DeAngelo all of San Diego, California; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Lopez of Sunnyvale, California, Albert Lopez of Cave Junction, Oregon; and Richard Lopez and wife Charlotte of O’Brien, Oregon; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
