Patricia Mae Gimlin

April 15, 1938 — December 13, 2015

Patricia Mae Gimlin passed away peacefully on December 13, 2015 at Autumn House Alzheimer’s Care Facility in Grants Pass, OR.

“Pat”, as she was known to family and friends, was born in Salinas, CA to Samuel and Helen Terry. Her father was a true horseman - a real cowboy. As a result horses were a big part of her early life.
On July 10, 1956 Pat married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Gimlin. They had a son Keith.

They were a Navy family living in Memphis, TN; Kingsville, TX; Riverdale, CA; plus various places in the San Francisco Bay area before finally ending up at the navel station near Oak Harbor, WA.

Always a devoted wife and mother, Pat started her career as a Library Technician in Alameda, CA. She loved her job and continued in this line of work after moving to Oak Harbor, WA.

After she and Bob retired, they searched for a place to retire to, and they chose Grants Pass, OR. There they purchased a house in a great neighborhood filled with the best neighbors you could wish for. They then bought an RV and set off on many travel adventures.
When in town they attended Neuman United Methodist Church, a place filled with people they deeply loved.

In her later years, health issues slowed her down but she always tried to keep going. Towards the end, chronic pain and Alzheimer’s consumed her life bit by bit, until finally taking it.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her sister, Loris; her brother, Dale; and her parents, Sam and Helen.

She is survived by her son, Keith plus many nieces, nephews and friends.

A special thank you to the staff of the following: Dr. Brian Hancock; Autumn House; Lovejoy Hospice; the people of their neighborhood plus many others too numerous to list.

Donations can be made in her name to Josephine County Library or Josephine County Animal Shelter.

A Memorial Service was held at Newman United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at 11:00 a.m.
