Omre Sprague Miller Bonney

Omre Alma “Jackie” Bonney, age 93, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, December 19, 2013 at her home.

No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

She was born June 30, 1920 on a ranch near Arden, Texas, the 3rd child of four born to Hallie & Alma (France) Sprague. She was the last surviving member of her Sprague family. In 1940 in Reeves County, Texas she married Jasper Newton Miller. They moved to Oregon in 1950 and settled at Myrtle Creek, Oregon where they raised four children, Jacquelyn, Sandra, Hal & Jasper Milton. She was an excellent seamstress and homemaker. She worked at Myrtle Creek Telephone until operators were phased out. After Jasper died, she married Gilbert Bonney of Tiller, Oregon in 1978 and lived at Tiller until 2006 when they moved to Grants Pass to be closer to son Hal and doctors and hospitals.

She enjoyed crocheting, tending her flowers in her green house and telling the stories of her life to anyone who would listen.

She is survived by daughters, Jacquelyn Helgeson and husband Alvin and Sandra Jelinek and husband Jim; son, Hal Miller and wife Sophia; ten grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren; four stepchildren, Gerald Bonney, Richard Bonney, and Donald Bonney, and Bonnie Kenyon; and many grand and great-grandchildren of the Bonney family.

She was preceded in death by her husbands and son, Jasper Milton.
