Odessa F. Rector

Odessa went home to be with the Lord June 11, 2009.

Odessa was born in Blythe, California to Pinkney Harold Freel Sr & Birdie Lee Simmons. Raised in California she met and married her husband Earl Woolsey Rector in San Diego, California where he was in the Navy. They lived in Hawaii a couple of times while in the navy. In 1956 he was Navy Recruiter in Grants Pass. They retired from the Navy in 1960 and moved back to the Grants Pass area, then moved to Crescent City in 1961. In 1962 they moved to Kansas where they resided until she moved to Grants Pass to live with her sister, after losing her husband in 1989.

She was a member of Southern Baptist Church while living in Kansas.

For pastime she liked to crochet, fish, read and have a garden where she was able.

She leaves behind a daughter Judith Ann Thompson of Parsons, Kansas; a brother, Richard Eldon Freel of Coffeyville, Kansas; a sister Stella Stow of Grants Pass; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers.

She will be laid to rest at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
