Nora "Jean" Moore

September 15, 1928 — September 11, 2012

Nora “Jean” Moore, age 83, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at The Bridge.

Nora “Jean” was born September 15, 1928 in Kenedy, Texas to John & Nora Jones. She was one of ten children and the sole survivor of this family. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Trinity College in Texas. In 1952 she met the love of her life, Jim in San Antonio, Texas where he was stationed with the United States Air Force. Jean and Jim lived in Ohio, Texas, and finally settled in California where they raised three children before their retirement to Oregon.

To say that Jean lived a full life is an understatement. She taught school for over 30 years, was a master seamstress and artist and above all, an avid fisherman. Her family spent many years boating in the California Delta and camping throughout the Western United States. When Jim decided to retire, they moved to their property in Nevada City, California where they lived in a 20 foot trailer while building their “dream home.” Her tribute to Jim’s career was designing a skirt made from all his neckties throughout the years and she wore this skirt to his retirement party.

Jean and Jim became actively involved in motor homing and their travels took them to every state in the country while writing articles for RV West, attending motor home road shows and visiting family throughout the country. They finally settled in Grants Pass, Oregon while continuing their travels and the family enjoyed countless visits to their beautiful home.

Nora Jean is survived by her three children, Rebecca (Jon), Rick (Cathy), and Karen; five grandchildren, Sarah, Landon, Shelley, Jamie and Kylee; and her beautiful great-grandson, Connor – the joy of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Luther Moore and a daughter, Mary Margaret.

A celebration of life will begin at 2:30 p.m., Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Taprock Restaurant – Evergreen Room. The family hopes you can join them as they celebrate the life of a beautiful woman, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother…and friend. It is their tribute to a life well lived and a woman well loved. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

The family would like to thank Lovejoy Hospice, Visiting Angels, and the staff at The Bridge for their help and support provided to our mother and family during this difficult time.
