Nicholas Peter Katsapis

Nicholas Peter Katsapis, age 93, of Grants Pass, died Friday, August 10, 2012 at his home.

Funeral services are pending at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Nicholas was born June 4, 1919 in Danielson, Connecticut to Pericles & Panayiota Katsapis, of Greek decent. During World War II he served in the United States Navy. He saw action while aboard the USS Randolph Aircraft Carrier. He was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Good Conduct Medal which he was the proud of, World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (awarded four times) and was honorably discharged. On September 23, 1951 he married Mary Pappas and they were married for 44 years. He worked as an escrow officer and retired from Ticor Title. In 1995 he moved from Aliso Viejo, California to Rogue River, Oregon and on June 2, 2001 he married Betty Jean Patton.

Nicholas attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He loved the Lord with all his heart and shared Him with everyone. He also attended Christian Singles.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Patton Katsapis of Grants Pass, Oregon; a daughter, Christine Pappas Katsapis of Rogue River, Oregon; a sister, Alexandra Spyropoulos of Silver Springs, Maryland; a brother, Charles Katsapis of San Diego, California; and one grandchild Nicholas Pike of Rogue River.

In addition to his first wife, Mary Katsapis; he was preceded in death by his parents.
