Nelson D. Paulus

Nelson D. Paulus, age 84, of Gold Hill, Oregon, passed away February 6, 2017, at his home.

Nelson was born November 9, 1932, in Kendallville, Indiana, to Claude and Lillian Paulus. He grew up and attended school in Fort Wayne, Indiana, graduating from Pierceton High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1952. In June 1953, he married Katherina “Katie” Eicher in Angola, Indiana. The couple moved to the West Coast in 1956 and have lived in Gold Hill since 1968.

Nelson had a generous heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. The retired machinist could fix most anything and enjoyed tinkering, carpentry and jewelry making. He had a passion for hunting and fishing and always had a Labrador retriever by his side.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Katie Paulus of Gold Hill; two daughters, Claudeea 'Dee' Duncan and husband Ron of Medford and Nacina Diane Paulus of Brookings; and four grandchildren, Trinity, Chelsea, Daniel and Kevin.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
