Naomi Jean "Jeannie" Smith (Nash)

Naomi Jean “Jeannie” Smith (Nash), age 71, passed away in her home in Grants Pass, Oregon on Monday, September 30, 2013 following a short battle with cancer. Jeannie is now at home with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Jeannie was born on February 22, 1942 in Bassett, Arkansas and grew up in the Antelope Valley area. She married Ronald Wayne Smith on February 27, 1960. Ron and Jeannie went on to have two children, Jay Smith of Antioch, California and Deborah Smith of Grants Pass, Oregon. Ron, Jeannie, Jay, and Deborah all graduated from Antelope Valley High School.

At the time of her death, Jeannie and Ron had been married for 53 years. They worked together at Lockheed Martin Company until their retirement in 1997. They enjoyed traveling in their motorhome until finally settling in Grants Pass.

Jeannie was preceded in death by her mother, Julia Bell Larley of Lancaster, California; her father, William Paul Nash of Casper, Wyoming; step-father, John Allen Larley; sister, Linda Kay Castor of Rock Springs, Wyoming; nephew, Brenden Paul Nash and two nieces, Jackie Baker of Casper, Wyoming and Cheri Renee Nash Alcorn of Grants Pass, Oregon.

Jeannie leaves her loving memory to be cherished by her husband, Ron Smith; her son, Jay Smith; a daughter, Deborah Smith; step-mother, Shirley Ann Nash of Casper, Wyoming; siblings, Kenneth Nash of Green Forest, Arkansas, James Nash of Selma, Oregon, Johna Haskins of Lancaster, California, Elmarie Davis of the Antelope Valley area and Sharlynn Jean Kountz of Casper, Wyoming and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jeannie’s favorite things in life were her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by her grandson, Jason Scott, his wife, Sara and their son, Alexander of Vacaville, California; a granddaughter, Ashley Scott of Grants Pass, Oregon; and granddaughters, Jennifer and Jayme Smith of Antioch, California. Of late, her pride and joy was spending time with her two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Kaylee.

A private memorial has already been held. Condolences can be sent to 3433 Helgeson Lane, Grants Pass, Oregon 97527. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
