Nancy Lynn Lechich

Nancy Lynn Lechich, age 66, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at her home.

A memorial service was held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, April 3, 2009 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Chaplain Carol Howser officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Remembrances may be made to Lovejoy Hospice, 939 SE 8th Street, Grants Pass, Oregon 97526 or a charity of choice.

Nancy was born May 7, 1942 in San Francisco, California to James & Phyllis Maher. In 1965 she graduated with highest honors from University of California Santa Barbara. On August 29, 1970 she married George Paul Lechich. She was an English teacher while living in California and continued to teach and tutor until recently. In 2007 she moved from Burlingame, California to Grants Pass.

Her memberships included the Audubon Society, National Congress of Parents & Teachers, and California Teachers Association.

She was a great lover of birds, the ocean and nature. She appreciated many forms of poetry and encouraged many with her own words of poetry. She especially enjoyed bird watching, poetry, writing, enjoying time with family and friends, and travel.

Survivors include a sister, Joan Elizabeth Bowman of Sequim, Washington; four nieces, Lisa Wade of Bremerton, Washington, Valarie Early of Brookings, Kari O’Brien and Trina Marks both of Grants Pass; cousins, Glenn Arthur Carroll of Medford and Lester & Barbara Carroll of Camino Island, Washington; and many beloved grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Paul Lechich in 1993 and her parents, James & Phyllis Maher.
