Mildred Westerman

Mildred Kate Westerman, age 71, of Grants Pass, died Monday, March 29, 2010 at her home.

A viewing will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Pastor Dan O’Donnell and Pastor Jay Troppa officiating. Interment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.

Mildred was born October 1, 1938 in Lundy, North Carolina. On June 16, 1955 she married Jessie LeeRoy Westerman. She lived in Buena Park, California before moving to Hugo, Oregon in 1978. For 20 years she worked for Ray’s Sentry Market in Merlin until her retirement.

Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting, singing, painting with her husband, theological studies, line dancing and square dancing.

Survivors include three sons, David Westerman and Gary Westerman both of Grants Pass, Oregon, and Lonnie Westerman of Papillion, Nebraska; a daughter, Vicki Pitts of Fort Belvoir, Virginia; two brothers, Ray Thomas of Welcome, North Carolina and Al Thomas of Redlands, California; a sister, Nina Bjork of Placentia, California; ten grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie LeeRoy Westerman; her parents, Lonnie Thomas and Ellen Thomas; a brother, Lee Thomas; and three sisters, May DeSheilds, Zella Sparks, and Norma Sarratt.
