Maureen Ann Karigan Goodrich

Maureen Ann Karigan Goodrich, 59, of Selma, died Friday, August 4, 2006 at her home.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at Newman United Methodist Church in Grants Pass with The Reverend Melissa Harkness-Haugen officiating. Another service will be held in Portland at the Providence Child Care Center, 840 NE 47th Street on August 26, 2006 at 2:00 P.M with Beatrice LaFramboise SP officiating. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

Remembrances may be made to the providers of Maureen’s hospice care, Providence Community Health Foundation, 940 Royal Avenue Suite 410, Medford OR 97504.

Maureen was born January 8, 1947 in Portland, Oregon to Charles & Flavia (Cox) Karigan. She grew up in Portland attending the Madeline School and Grant High School. She received her BA degree from Portland State University and a Masters of Teaching from Lewis and Clark College. Maureen lived in Seattle until 1986 when she moved to Kenai, Alaska. In 1990 she returned to Oregon and lived in Gresham. On October 27, 1990 in Portland, she married David Goodrich and together they moved to Cave Junction in July 1999. Maureen worked as a social worker for United Cerebral Palsy, Older Adults in Clackamas County, Seattle University, Frontier Training Center of Kenai, Alaska, and Oregon Health & Sciences University. She worked as a Special Education teacher at Lake Oswego High School, Twality High School, Hidden Valley High School, and Illinois Valley High School. Her last employment was for Illinois Valley Family Coalition.

Maureen was a member of the American Association of University Women and the Newman United Methodist Church.

She volunteered on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Valley Safe House Alliance.

Her hobbies included reading, gardening, sewing, and crafts.

In addition to her husband, David Goodrich of Selma; she is survived by a brother, Michael Karigan of Springfield. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Francesca Pacha.
