MEDFORD
OBITUARY

It is with a heavy heart that we share the loss of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and best friend. On Wednesday, November 25, 2009, in Grants Pass, surrounded by her family at her home, Maryann Wright, age 84, went to be with her parents, her loving husband, Charles (Chuck), and her 10 siblings.

Maryann was born in Billings, Montana on January 25, 1925, to Phillip and Anna Michael. The following year the family relocated to Bayard, Nebraska. On the day she graduated from Bayard High School, she and some girlfriends boarded a train for Long Beach, California, to begin a new life for themselves. While going to school in Bayard, she met her future husband, Chuck, who attended nearby Minitare High School. Chuck entered the Navy in 1942. They were married July 13, 1945, following his discharge. She and Chuck eventually moved to Roseburg, where he began his career with Oregon State Police, and Maryann worked at Coon Creek Lumber Company. In 1954, they adopted a baby boy and raised him as their own. Chuck’s OSP job took the family to Grants Pass in 1959. Maryann then began a career as the receptionist for Dr. Frank Purtzer. Maryann and Chuck then adopted a baby girl in 1961. Maryann lost Chuck in 1974 and never remarried. Maryann worked as a Pink Lady for 25 plus years at Josephine Memorial Hospital and then Three Rivers Hospital.

Maryann is survived by her sister, Lydia of Santa Barbara, California; a son, Greg, (Candy) of Central Point; a daughter, Kathy Estes (Doug) of Grants Pass; a grandson, Todd Wright (Erin) of Las Vegas, Nevada; three granddaughters, Staci Lacombe of Central Point, Lindsey Estes of Medford and Darcie Estes also of Medford; two great-granddaughters, Alexis and Olivia and three great-grandsons, Kaden, Logan and Mason and a huge family of nieces and nephews.

The family is honoring her wish that there be no services and she will be placed next to her dear husband.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity.
