Mary Tabaldo Armstrong

Mary Tabaldo Armstrong, age 79 of Grants Pass, died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilation Center.

A visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Stake Center on Williams Highway. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Mary was born January 14, 1930 in Stockton, California to Anastacia & Brigdo Lopez. In 1948 she graduated from Tracy Union High School and later attended Mills College in the Bay area. She married Merito Tabaldo in 1948 in Stockton, California. Mary and her husband owned and operated M. Tabaldo Gardening in Gardena, California. In 1993 she married Frank Armstrong in Grants Pass.

She was active in Son’s and Daughter’s of Santo Domingo, Lema Kukua, Gardena Valley Gardeners Association and was a Cub Scout Den mother. While living in Grants Pass she was a member of Serenaders, Old Time Fiddlers and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Redwood Ward.

Her hobbies included fishing, singing, feeding deer and gardening. She was also an accomplished musician.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Armstrong of Grants Pass; three sons, Mitchell Brigan Tabaldo of Torrance, California, Florian “Ding” Tabaldo of Glide, Oregon and Mario Tabaldo of Torrance, California; two stepsons, Miles Armstrong of Vancouver, Washington and Kenneth Armstrong of Jefferson, Oregon; two stepdaughters, Lanette Pinchot of Dallas, Oregon and Fran Lawrence of Seaside, Oregon; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was a husband, Merito Tabaldo in 1987; two sons, Rene and Terry and infant daughter, Celeste.
